St.
Brigid's
Hall, Clonegal
St
Brigid’s Hall has been part of the fabric of the
award winning and beautiful village of Clonegal for many
generations. It began its life in 1834
as the National School for the village. The walls must have many secrets and
stories to tell, just like the people of the area. One of the great and most
popular activities now hosted in this community centre is the House of Song
and Story. It attracts huge crowds on the 3rd Monday of every month.
The interior of the hall is very bright and modern. In 2006 the local community
saw their hall receive extensive renovations improving on all facilities. There
is a lovely stairway which is wide and bright. The kitchen area is very modern
and there are also toilets upstairs. Next door to the kitchen is the IT Room
which houses 12 computers. These are used a great deal by the primary school
as they have broadband and a projector. St Brigid’s Community Centre
now hosts the Clonegal After - Schools children.
The hall
is used for regular meetings with the Irish Country Women’s
Association using it along with the local women’s
group. There are many classes and activities such as craft
classes and yoga. It is also used for coffee mornings and
fundraising activities by all groups in the community.
This beautiful hall is available to anyone or any group
which may need a room or more and enquiries are always
welcome.
